First post/OOTD!

May 28, 2010

So I finally joined the bandwagon & created a fatshion blog! I hope you all enjoy it. From time to time I may post beauty reviews because I am a little make-up obsessed and I think it will be fun. On the right there is an "about me" page which will give you a little more insight into who I am. If you enjoy it, please follow my blog! I'll probably have a mini giveaway which I reach 50 followers -well, if I do!

Here is the outfit I wore shopping today, click the links to see the full size picture:

ootd: may 27 2010 ootd: may 27 2010
ootd: belt close up
ootd: may 27 2010 ootd: may 27 2010 (unflattering pic)
ootd: boots & dress close up

dress: savida €25 * ribbed tank top (underneath): primark €3.50 * cardigan: asos €23 * boots: primark €20 * leggings: faith 21 €5 * belt: random store €4

I bought the dress about 8 or 9 months ago and today was only my second time wearing it. I probably won't be wearing it again actually. It clings to all of the wrong places and the shape is just awful. The bottom is supposed to be fitted around the thighs but its baggy on me, plus the bust is way too low. I had a black tank top on underneath (hard to tell in the pictures) just to make it less revealing. The dress is a UK size 16 but I actually think a 12 or 14 would have looked much better on my bottom half. Which is pretty ridiculous because I would never fit my lower half into a size 12-14 in any other store.
The store I purchased it from doesn't have accurate sizing at all though, I own some shoes from there and I have to size down 2 and a half sizes! They make me feel good about my large UK size 7.5 feet.

While its flattering to see a size 12 on the tag, it's very annoying when I have to take multiple sizes of one piece of clothing to the fitting rooms!

Has anyone else ever experienced stores like this?

  3. @ Katorra : honestly, I wanted to wear a black belt and flats with this outfit but I felt too goth! I switched to the tan at the last minute. Thanks!

@ Gazel: Aww, thanks girl, you are the queen of FABULOUS! I hate my hair though, i'm just trying to grow it back to my original color (hence the 5 inches of light brown on top! Ha)

  6. Oh my, you are so fucking cute!
You are still looking good in that dress although you say it could have been better!
Somehow I'm very much in love with the cardigan. :)

By the way I find the Asos mesh leggings are high quality. The stretch feels pretty sturdy. But I discovered some holes in the crotch area, which sucks pretty much, because there isn't that much pressure in this area normally. But I'm sure the holes can be fixed easily.

  9. thank you Carly, MZ B, CC, Les Pitreries de Vanoue and anonymous! Nice to meet all of you :)

@ Coco, thanks! I LOVE those cardigans, they are made from light jersey material and perfect for the summer (I don't really like my bingo wings being on display! lol) I have 2 in black and one in navy, if they ever come back in stock i'm going to order the other colors too. I'm really tempted to order the leggings, maybe i'll wait until a discount code is released so I won't feel too guilty if i'm unhappy with the quality! I have loved everything I got from ASOS except their leggings.

  11. i think the dress looks super cute:) But I totally understand if the fit is completely off it makes you not want to wear it. I always have that issue with Torrid. The sizing (other then jeans) is completely off for me. I wont buy it unless I try it on. Good luck with the blog! I look forward to getting inspired by it:)

  14. the print on the dress is so lovely (well, i'm a sucker for ditsy florals, heh) - its such a pity the fit is off on you. and inconsistent sizing is such a terrible thing. i do all my clothes shopping on the internet (the perks of living in the wilderness as far as fashion is concerned)and it just sucks when something that is supposed to be my size doesn't fit. i'm a pretty solid 16 but sometimes i have to go down to a 14 because of inconsistent sizing and that just sucks.

  21. to be totally honest with you, you dont look like a size 18 i am the same size and if i thought i looked half as good as you when i go out i would feel so much more confident :) great outfits on both posts.

  22. Thanks envy chic! Have you tried Dorothy Perkins or New Look? I haven't looked at their online stores lately but the last time I was in their store (2 weeks ago) they had lots and lots of beautiful floral print tops and dresses!

Charmed chick - Thank you. But come on!! I just looked at your blog and you look GORGEOUS!! I think you carry your weight a lot better than me, especially in the picture of you wearing a black waistcoat, you look great! I carry most of my weight in my stomach/hips/butt which I hate. You should always feel confident because you're beautiful missy!

  23. Really like this look! I especially love the skirt, and like Katorra said, matching the outfit with the camel boots was a great idea. Also, I like the different angles you take with your photography. They are interesting, and I'm definitely trying to incorporate some more perspectives in mine!
