Inspiration post!

June 30, 2010

I haven't been having a whole lot of luck lately and today I added to that bad luck by breaking my camera remote! Not on purpose of course. Because of that it will be a couple more days until an OOTD post so for now I am going to do a little "inspiration" post featuring 2 fabulous girls who inspire me very much.

Zooey Deschanel, most of you have probably heard of her. She was in movie's such as "Elf" and "500 Days Of Summer". I first discovered her about 6 years ago in a movie called "All The Real Girls" (I recommend you all check it out, it's my favorite movie of all time!) Ever since then I have been admiring her quirky style. Her outfits are always so feminine and pretty.
Sure, she probably weighs half of what I do but I think any plus size girl can dress just how she does because everything is so flattering and would look great on bodies of any size. I think she is the reason why I love nude and pastel colors so much! A lot of my outfits are definitely inspired by her style.

This is Hayley Hasselhoff. She is one of David Hasselhoff's daughters. I discovered her 2 years ago when I was searching for pictures of her dad on google. (I'm a fan of the Hoff too!) She did some modeling for Torrid a few years ago and right now she's in a tv show about people who are in a fat camp -I haven't seen it so I don't know a whole lot about this- We have pretty much the same measurements although her weight seems to yo-yo a lot.
I love everything about this girl. In one of the picture's above she is wearing a hot pink top and... spandex leggings! As you can probably guess, they don't flatter plus size girls very much, however I thought she looked incredible. I think a huge part of that was because she was so confident and that really outweighed everything else.
The only thing I dislike is that she wears black so much. I do love all of her little black dresses but she looks so beautiful in bright colors and I love seeing other plus size girls wearing bright colors too, so hopefully she will start rocking more colorful outfits in the future! Either ways, i'm still a fan of her and i'm so glad she is proud of her body, something that is rare in Hollywood regardless of size.

Who are YOUR style inspirations? If you are plus sized like me, do you take inspiration from girls of every size or just plus sized girls?

xo

fashion inspiration wise - hmm, that's tricky. I love the blogging world for that actually - and also the street styling section of Grazia.

girl crush is completely different however - loved Billie Piper in Secret Diary (huge lingerie fan - but also really just loved her street style - lots of allsaints), and can't help but adore mossy - but mostly in raggy vintage furs and smoking cigarettes - absoultely appalling I know!!:P x

  12. Great style icons, I love Zooey too - I stole her fringe (bangs!) for myself because it's so flattering! I don't really have specific style icons so much, but I love looking at loads of different people's style and thinking about how I could make the clothes work for me - and I love how you put your outfits together, of course!

  16. I have to say that personally, well dressed women from every walk of life, size or shape inspire me. Like you mention, there are styles that even when worn by very thin women, can still be universally flattering. I saw the first episode of the show Huge and I really enjoyed it!

  17. I stumble upon your website and have to say that I absolutely love your feminine style (pears, frocks and all the prettiness!). It is such a silly notion that has been embedded in all our minds that plus size cannot be cute or pretty and you, my dear, has broken that mindset :) your blog has really inspired me! It shows that I can be fatty but also feminine and pretty at the same time. Thank you~!

As for inspiration, I have to confess that I am quite a folk lover. I would die to have anything in Scandinavian embroidery on it. I get most of my muse from Japanese magazines :)

  18. I love Zooey D' - her style is adorable!

I'd have to say my other style icons are Blair Waldorf (from Gossip Girl) and Olivia Palermo, as well as Taylor Momsen and Alexa Chung's rock/edgier looks.

I wish there were more plus sized icons out there though - Hayley's beautiful, I love the last pic
