Even though this outfit isn't too exciting I just wanted to share my latest cheap find with you all! I didn't accessorize too much because I wanted the focus to be on my amazing Topshop booties!
I had been admiring this dress in store for a couple of weeks, I even tried it on twice but just couldn't justify buying a dress that I may possibly never wear! Something kept bringing me back to it though. I love the floral lace print and 3/4 length sleeves. Not so great is the incredibly short length and body-con style which really hugs to my whole body and "problem area" more than anywhere.
Then last week while I was browsing through the clearance racks I noticed the dress was there, the last one was in my size and reduced to €3 ($3.80/£2.45) so of course I used this as an excuse to buy it. It was just meant to be, right?!

Dress: Dunnes *** Blazer: Primark *** Booties: Topshop *** Bracelets: ASOS *** Spanx and Faith 21 shorts (not pictured)
I will admit it, I cheated a little. I'm wearing Spanx underneath the dress but not even those babies could hide my belly! They did smooth it out a little more though. Getting into the Spanx was a whole mission in itself! I bought them last year for the ridiculous price of €75 and they are without a doubt the most uncomfortable thing in the world. Every time I sit down or bend over they roll down. I thought maybe I had bought them in the wrong size but I have tried on larger sizes recently and have the same problem so I think Spanx are a waste of money. Yes they smooth out my body a little but they are uncomfortable and make me feel miserable every time I wear them!
I also wore my Faith 21 shorts underneath to cover my Spanx and help me feel more comfortable about wearing such a short dress.
(Thankfully I also remembered to fix the sleeves on my blazer before leaving! Whoops!)
xoxo

OOTD: €3 dress!

Nothing sexier than a hot pair of booties. Those ankle boots look as lovely as the rest of your outfit. Lovely pictures, yet again!
ReplyDeleteDude I fucking LOVE this - omg this dress and whole outfit is SOOO hot... and you don't look "boxy" or that your hiding anything at all. Fat rules! lol
ReplyDeleteSpanx are SO ridiculous! I tried them on a few times, and realized that a highwaisted pair of panties or leggings could smooth me just as much and were a LOT more comfortable. They're totally a joke.
ReplyDeleteThat dress'll be SO cute in cold weather with some leggings on it & the booties--make your legs look a mile long!

Great outfit! LOVE the booties! You're rockin' it girl, as always!
ReplyDeleteFor that price you just have to (:
ReplyDeleteMy sister has those boots & they are beasts! I could never wear them, small heel at most for me, but you look stunning!

Wow, this is pretty! I LOVE the dress, and I ADOREEE the shoes! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for being so honest about the Spanx! I was thinking about buying one...but 75€??? That's ridiculous!! So I went to Penneys and bought a skirt slip or how you call it. And it's so uncomfortable! I didn't wear it, not even once.
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable though :)
Love love love those booties, but I couldn't walk in them. Especially not here in this small city..makes me miss Dublin again :D

Those boots are gorgeous, i wish i was shorter and could get away with them without feeling like a giant!
ReplyDeleteStacey xx
those boots are beautiful! you look gorgeous :) x
ReplyDeleteThat dress is really pretty, & most certainly meant to be! Love it when that happens!
ReplyDeleteYou could always wear it as a top if it feels too short.. that's what I'd do :)

I have the same issue with Spanx! I don't even bother wearing them at this unless I absolutely have no option and even then I'll find a reason not to wear them. The constant pulling up of my rolled spanx is too much to handle and I figure my problems areas are not fabulous but more fabulous than Spanx rolling down and looking shabby. Cute outfit!
ReplyDeleteyou look amazing!
ReplyDeletei think if you want shapewear full body numbers are the way forward. not the most sexy things admittedly but they work the best.
the one i own is basically a tube dress but it's comfy as hell and smoothes everything out, plus it was £30 so much cheaper than spanx and does more than just bum and tum.
booties are awesome by the way, especially those ones!
xx
LO QUE SON ESOS ZAPATOS!!!!! OMG! HERMOSOS!
ReplyDeleteDid you try some leggings under the dress? A cropped jacket might work better too. I am SO aware of my middle UGH so I always buy a dress or something and I feel insecure about it. I think that you pulled it off really well and I like the color. You look great. The booties are adorable.
ReplyDeleteI hate spanx but I use the debenhams version- much cheaper and not too bad at the whole rolling down thing. Those boots are amazing! I wish I could walk in heels! x
ReplyDeleteHi, new reader, your outfits are great and your sense of style is so on form! So cute :) I have never tried Spanx myself but love the M&S sucky in pants. Theyre comfortable and have loads of give in them, and like someone posted earlier they have like tube lycra things which are comfy and give great cleavage! Theyre so much cheaper as well. Although you don't need them at all! I love your shoes btw, VERY sexy!! xx

omg i LOVE those boots !
ReplyDeleteand i have that blazer, i wear it all the time !
love FASHIONPROJECT x
I exactly know what you mean! I'm also often tempted to buy something I know I'd wear only once or on rare occasions..but when I find it in the sale it's like an omen to me saying "what more do you need to buy it?!" :D I think 3EUR for a dress is a steal! And it looks good :)
ReplyDeleteBtw I was looking at the sleeves thinking "is it on purpose?" and then you got me with the last sentence :D
those heels are to die for!

So adorable! It was def. meant to be! Like my mom says "if you get a front row spot at a store you were meant to be there and spend your money!" And finding this dress was your front row spot! LOL!
ReplyDeleteSpanx or not you look fabulous.

I'm so glad you've said that about Spanx, as I bought a pair of M&S control pants that did the same thing, and I was under the impression it must be because they were a cheap version therfore not as good.
ReplyDeleteYou've saved me a fair whack there!
You look gorgeous in that dress, too.
Bargains like that never happen to me- it's always the other way around- things I've bought end up in the sale!

ReplyDeleteas for Spanx , wow that is a super honest review, i know its a hit in the States , everyone is talking about it even Sex and City 2 mention about how great it was. And i was tempted to get haha but after reading this i 've changed my mind
glad i did not spend big bucks to get one , cos if i am not mistaken in Malaysia we need to purchase it online and its pretty costly after the currency convert and shipping

those shoes are sooo stunning!!
ReplyDeleteThat dress was definately meant to be yours! Those booties are beyond amazing!
ReplyDeleteI also hate spanx. I went out dancing one night and by the end of the night had trouble breathing. I realised it was because my spanx were far too tight! Great dress!

So surprised, I SWEAR by spanx! I have the really high waisted ones so they go over the back of my bra, great for smoothing the "backfat" area...and cuz they're high they never roll on me when I sit. Hope you'll have more luck with them in the future!
ReplyDeleteand those shoes are DEFINITELY hot!
