I feel like my face looks very "chalky" in these pictures! I love fall and winter but the lighting in my room is not too good for these next few months once its after 3pm! I also switched to using .jpeg format instead of .png for my pictures which means faster loading times but lower picture quality and that is really bugging me! Do you guys prefer to see high quality pictures or faster loading pictures? Anyways, moving along..
I got the job!
Rewinding back to Friday: After 20 minutes of trying to twist it with my tweezers I still couldn't get my lip piercing jewelery out (which made me double stressed!) When I got to the city I popped into my favorite piercing studio and they were really helpful and had the studs out in a few seconds! I ran back to my cab and the driver couldn't find the hotel, he went down a lot of side streets/alleys to "avoid" traffic but we ended up on the other side of the city. I got there eventually and just on time!
I went inside to register, pick up my name tag and then I made my way to the waiting area. There were already 2 groups of girls on each side of the room talking amongst themselves and I just felt so awkward so I took a seat alone in the middle! Aha. After about 30 seconds I spoke to another girl who came in alone and every time someone new came in they joined our group, it was really nice getting to know them and it made the whole group interview easier.
The whole interview process was certainly..different! It was a group interview and there were between 20 and 25 other girls. When we entered the main interview room I snagged a seat in the front row and the lady announced it was going to be similar to an X-factor audition (minus the singing, thank god!)
I was picked as the first girl to tell the group about myself in 10 seconds, I just said my name, age and that I have a plus size fashion blog. I didn't stand up so when about 70% of the other girls did I felt like I had possibly let myself down very early! After we all introduced ourselves we had to answer questions about customer service, why we want to work for Forever 21, etc. I made sure to let them know that I know about the brand in my answers (how they expanded from 40 to 500 stores between 1997 and 2010, they print John 3:16 on the bags, etc) At the end of that "round" they cut the group down to 7 girls including me.
Then we moved on to round 2 which was styling outfits. We were put in pairs, I got paired with a girl I had made friends with which was great! We were given an occasion to put an outfit together for. Ours was "a girl on her first date" and we decided that she was going for drinks so the outfit had to be fancy. I think ours was pretty hard because there was only 2 dresses on the rail and one of them would have been unflattering on anyone over a size 8! In the end we went with a black lace dress, long silver necklace, black peeptoe platform heels, leopard clutch, red blazer and described why we picked everything. After that round the women interviewing us went to the back of the room to discuss it. I was so nervous yet excited, I didn't think I would get to the third round because one of the women had questioned why we didn't use scarves or tights like she suggested (I replied that the scarf would have distracted from the necklace and the shoes have open toes so tights wouldn't have worked too well) After 2 minutes they came back and 3 of us were picked to go to round 3!
Round 3 was just a 1:1 interview with one of the managers of the new store, she was so friendly (and pretty!), she really made the whole interview fun which helped my nerves! I had to answer about 6 questions relating to the job (what would I do in certain situations, obstacles I overcame, etc) then she said I was hired and told me a little about the store. I made sure to shake hands/thank the women who did the other rounds on the way out, I am so incredibly happy that I got the job! Now lets just hope they let me work in the Faith 21 section. My orientation day is at the end of next month, I can't wait to get started. If anyone is interested, the store is 70,000 sq ft and it will have every F21 line (faith, kids, mens, etc) and it opens in mid November.
Thank you all for the "good luck" comments, emails, tweets, etc! I have so many blogs and comments to catch up on tomorrow!
Hope you all had a fab weekend.
Ps. My UK readers - who are your current Xfactor favorites? I'm quite liking Katie Waissel and Matt Cardle. I have a little crush on Marlon McKenzie, hes very handsome!
