OOTD: nude pink body & pink sequin dress

September 20, 2010

I didn't get a chance to update over the weekend so i'm going to do a little two-in-one post, an outfit from Saturday night and an outfit from today. I wore my favorite nude pink pumps with both outfits, those shoes have been my best purchase of the last year without question. And at only €15 they were a steal! I noticed last week that the store have them back in stock so they must be a hit with everyone. I didn't accessorize too much with either dress, I wanted the focus to be on the dresses so I kept the jewelery simple.

Saturday:

Dress: Primark *** Cardigan: Faith 21 *** Shoes: Dunnes *** Bracelet: Forever 21 *** Necklace: Forever 21

Today:

Dress: New Look *** Blazer: Dunnes *** Shoes: Dunnes *** Bracelets: Dorothy Perkins

Remember when you were a little girl and always wanted to be *that* girl in your favorite movie? Well, aside from the Olsen twins, I always wanted to be Daryl Hannah's character (Madison) in the movie "Splash". As soon as I seen this dress I knew I had to have it. I feel like 50% mermaid, 30% Barbie, 17% princess and 3% crazy when I wear it. It is the most expensive piece of clothing I own from New Look, it was somewhere between €75 and €80 (because its from the Giles Deacon collection) but it was worth every cent. None of the sequins/discs have fallen off yet which i'm very happy about too!

A big "yay" is in order! Why? Well, a while back I mentioned that Forever 21 are planning to open their first European store here in the fall, then a couple of weeks later I mentioned that I had applied for a position.. last week I got a reply and I have an interview! My interview is on Friday, I have no idea what to expect but i'm still very excited. I don't have any fashion retail experience but hopefully that won't matter too much. Forever 21 is hands down my favorite store.

The latest Beth Ditto for Evans collection launched a couple of days ago online, I was going to make a post dedicated to it but after viewing the full collection I decided against it. Don't get me wrong, its great that us big girls have a trendy collection like this to look forward to but it didn't blow me away. I only liked one piece (the polka dot dress) but I believe it was almost £60 and I would have preferred if the collar was a solid color like this. Lots of other bloggers seem happy with the collection but as much as I wanted to love it, I don't. Maybe my expectations are just higher now that we have ASOS curve and Faith 21, both of whom produce trendy plus size clothes at a much lower price. What do you girls think about it? Beth Ditto for Evans AW10

PS. Today I reached 600 followers! My blog is only about 3 1/2 months old so its still very much a baby compared to most other blogs out there but I just wanted to say that I am really thankful for all of my readers and I love you all! ♥

xoxo

  2. Huge congratulations on reaching that many followers so quickly!

Great outfits - can definitely see why those shoes would be popular - they're lovely :)

  3. Ever since following me on Twitter and since seeing your blog, I have always been impressed with your lovely sense of style. Only thing more beautiful than your outfits and your looks is your sweet-sounding voice.

Your beauty dazzles in so many ways in these two dress outfits. There's nice contrast with the black and very light pink for the first one, and then the second outfit is just classic girly cuteness. Those pumps look amazing too.

Congratulations on 600 Followers (myself included). Just too bad my blog's been out for (since the first entry) one year and nine months, and I still have only 17 Followers. :( Great post! johnbmarine.blogspot.com (John's Blog Space)

  6. Thanks everyone!

John B. Marine - I hope it doesn't seem like i'm bragging about my followers or anything - i'm grateful that so many people like my blog but at the end of the day it *is* just a number and if you enjoy writing your blog then that's what is most important!

Carla - It doesn't! But after looking back at the pictures I can see why you'd think that (now i'm a bit paranoid too haha!) Its just light pink/skin colored fabric!

  8. Both of these dresses are stunners! That said, I love the one with the black on it the best. Maybe it's cause I know I could never pull off the mermaid one! You on the other hand, look absolutely adorable in both ensembles. And the shoes? Can they be any more perfect?

  22. You look really cute in your dresses and I think you should give a little SJP treatment to your 'mermaid dress' and wear a completely contrasting vintage belt with it! Re Beth Ditto, I too was really disappointed with the collection. I bought the Stained Glass dress from her first Evans collection and love it but I wasn't blown away by the new collection and I'd been really looking forward to it!

  28. Both dresses are lovely, but the second one is my favorite! It is so gorgeous! I've always had quite the weakness for sequins, especially pale pink ones.

Also, I'm totally jealous of your legs and pretty pink wall. =P

  35. I'd quite like to know camera you use.....or even the editing software cause miss...you got skills.

The sequined dress is adorable and I'm always a fan of a new pair of shoes.

Evans always seem to feel a bit cheap. I've seen a few pieces from there and I just think the fabric feels a bit bleh...just very uninspired. As you say there are other brands out there doing it a lot better.

Congrats on 600 followers btw missy...and growing I see ;)

  36. The sequinned dress is pastel, how nice, most sequinned tops and dresses are usually dark-coloured for the night but this looks like it can be for the day too!

The dress looks gorgeous on you so it's totally worth the price to pay!

  42. Ladies love all styles of shoes. A woman needs a lot of different types of shoes. You need shoes for work, exercise and play. Plus, you need a couple more just in case. Then the other shoe in your collection is not there because of necessity, they are there because of desire It can become an obsession for some. Try not to let it become an obsession. Buy womens shoes, but be sure not to neglect any area of your life.
