Dress: Dunnes *** Coat: Miss Selfridge *** Boots: Doc Marten *** Socks: ASOS *** Necklace: Forever 21 *** Belt: Faith 21
How pretty are these white socks from ASOS?! I bought them about 2 years ago but today was my first time to wear them because I actually forgot that I had them! I love the ruffles at the top. When I was a little girl I wore socks exactly this to school every day! You would think that I would hate them now (considering I wore similar ones for 5+ years) But nope! They are one of those things that I have loved since childhood, polka dot prints and docs, too. I think today's outfit was mostly a mashup of my childhood!
A few people have left comments asking if I started my new job at Forever 21 yet, what its like, etc. No, I haven't started working for them yet! My training day is next Wednesday so I assume (and hope!) that i'll be starting work pretty soon after that. I am one of the few people they have hired as full time staff, apparently there is only 4 of us full timers in the whole store - out of 250 staff, crazy!
Speaking of Forever 21, what do you all think about the recent announcement that they will soon change the name of the Faith 21 collection to Forever 21+/plus? A couple of weeks ago I was reading about the collections our store will carry, the page with "Forever 21+" stood out to me, I was sure they had made a mistake/actually meant Faith 21, but it makes sense now.
To be honest I preferred the name Faith 21. It was nice to have a collection dedicated to us larger girls with no weight related words attached. It's not really "Forever 21 plus" because most of the clothes in the Faith 21 collection is not sold in smaller sizes for the regular Forever21 line. I am really really hoping that since they changed the name to Forever21+ that they will now make larger sizes of their regular sized lines. Don't get me wrong, when Faith 21 gets it right, they really get it right, but I see a lot of pieces that make me cringe too. Every week I see 2-3 new pieces I want from Faith 21 but at least 20 that I want from the regular sized Forever 21 line, so I think that says it all! It sure has grown a lot and improved since it first launched last year so I hope the new name is a sign of even more good things to come.
ps. I am sorry the winner of my giveaway still hasn't been announced - I'm short on money and can't afford to mail it until this weekend so I will announce the winner closer to the time. Sorry again!
xoxo

OOTD: Polka dots and docs.

LOVEEEE the dress <3
ReplyDeleteVery sweetie
I was just wondering today when you were gonna update! Nice to see your face again. This outfit is so cute, I love polka dots <3
ReplyDeleteHere is a case of downplaying girly looks by going edgy with a leather jacket and (more importantly) a pair of Doc Martens boots. It's a very cool look!

I was a little disappointed that they changed the name, because I too loved the fact that it was a plus size clothing line without shouting that fact out. Hopefully they'll start carrying the regular apparel in plus sizes....I think that's the only thing that will appease me. For now at least.
ReplyDeletelooking lovely :)
ReplyDeletei agree with you on the name thing, i much prefer faith 21 as there are no size associations with it!
i have missed you.
ReplyDeletei love your outfit!!!
you can NEVER go wrong with polka dots! :)
i loved how you paired a sweet dress with doc martens.
have a good week love.
xoox
I think that Faith21 is much better 'cuz for girls who might be unhappy with their body it just seems more..I dont know, like there's nothing to be ashamed of you know? Forever21+ just sounds blaahhh..
ReplyDeleteSorry if this is in a earlier post but f21 & ireland? Are they taking over Europe? :D
This SOOOOO cute! I love the fem feel with the doc martins, you look super cute :) Love it! ♥
ReplyDeleteaww i love your frilly socks with the docs, might have to steal that style from you!

ReplyDeleteI love these photos and that dress is just too cute. I hope you get to start work pretty quickly sweet (:
ReplyDeleteLinda!!
ReplyDeleteAmei esse vestido!!

Regarding the Faith21/Forever21+ issue, you make a really great point that they shouldn't emphasize that we're larger and make special clothes for us. The clothes should just span from small-3x without a reference to who should wear what. That's about as stupid as saying "only blonds can where this shirt". But at least they are one of the mainstream stores who are making an effort. Maybe if the others see how popular the line is they will all catch on. (perhaps a store like H&M)
ReplyDeleteThe ruffle socks are definitely adorable! I love how this how outfit reminds you of being a kid! So cute :)
ReplyDeleteahhh! those socks are so cute! i'm not really an ankle sock kinda girl, but you really rock them :) xoxo avs
ReplyDeletesuch a sweet dress. i also agree with the name change on forever 21 and wish they would create pieces from the regular line in the plus line. i wanted those oversized old rock n roll band tshirts, and i knew if i ordered the L, it would be fitted on me.. but i wanted it oversized like it was on the model. haha... maybe someday!
ReplyDeletehappy youre back! cute outfit :) I agree, I liked Faith 21 better, but if this means theyre going to give us more stuff from the main line then so be it!
ReplyDeleteThis jacket is pretty nice!

Completely agree with allll of your comments about the line. I think the name change is kind of silly, I liked it better before. But I certainly do hope the clothes may come in extended sizes! I've gotten some great stuff from Faith but sometimes I just look online and wonder if they're TRYING to make ugly clothes that will make a plus size girl look even bigger! Hopefully you'll love the job!
ReplyDeleteCute little socks and pairing them with docs, very nice! I agree on the name change, thought Faith 21 sounded better. We'll see what they come up with.Good luck with your training.
ReplyDeleteHey girl! U rock! :) just bumped into Ur blog and I love it :) great outfit :0 I love the cross *-*

Love the socks with the Docs, such a cool idea to counteract the toughness of the shoe. Looking forward to visiting the Forever 21 in Brum, I was addicted in NYC so it'll be interesting to see prices this side of the pond.
ReplyDeleteOmg gimme that dresssssssssss !!! *lol* I just fell in love !
ReplyDeleteSUCH and adorable outfit!! Love the mix of tough and feminine! I agree with you on the Forever21/Faith21 and hopefully they add some more of the same pieces!

Your outfit is absolutely gorgeous!!! I like the polka dot and the socks too there are so nice!!
ReplyDeleteLet me speak a bit on the Forever 21 Plus thing. Faith 21 is fairly acceptable rather than change the name to Forever 21+. I wouldn't want to see F21's plus/extended size range be changed to something like "Forever 21+." Also, just think of the name "Forever 21+." Just doesn't sound right compared to just Forever 21 or Faith 21. So I'd hang onto "Faith 21" for their plus/extended size line.

Oh no! I hate how your necklacce is from Forever 21, we don't have that in England yet. It would go perfectly with my vampire costume.
ReplyDeleteYou look really lovely though - the socks add just the right amount of childish charm to your outfit.
Great outfit - the socks and doc martens combo is the most adorable thing I've seen all day! You look lovely m'dear
