Hey everyone. So its not a proper OOTD today, I just wanted to show you guys the pretty tights I picked up in Primark. Things like this is what makes me love Primark, they cost me a mere €3.50! I have always wanted bows tattooed on the backs of my thighs but its doubtful I would actually get them - now I can cheat a little by wearing these tights all of the time!
Lately I have been thinking about 2011 and what it means for my blog. I haven't gotten off to the greatest start so far - OOTD's aren't very often these days but I do plan on changing that once i'm better! If you follow me on twitter you will know that I have been unwell lately, a cold first and now some kind of bug. Unlucky, eh? Once I am better I will be back to updating regularly and with lots of pretty dresses since its almost spring!
Another thing that has been on my mind is the slogan of my blog - "a fatshion blog". When I first started blogging my intention was to make this strictly about plus size fashion but that has obviously changed a little. I am fat(and on the lower end of plus sized), but I get inspiration from all kinds of things and I shop at lots of different stores. Sometimes I will buy clothes from a plus size section and other times I will get the size large from the "normal size" part of Forever 21. Sometimes I will be inspired by larger models like Tara Lynn and others I will be inspired by thin women. I have readers of all shapes and sizes and I want every woman, regardless of her age or dress size, to be able to relate to my blog in some way.
I am considering dropping the slogan but then I think about the blogs that come to my mind when I hear the term "fashion blog" and they are not blogs written by plus sized gals and I don't feel like my blog is similar to those blogs at all. So i'm still very unsure what to do! Either way, I just want all of my plus size readers to know that we can take inspiration from thin girls and shop at regular stores too! Its all about finding what works for you and your body.
Lastly a big thank you to everyone who entered my giveaway. I am glad you guys liked the goodies I picked out! I will be announcing the winner in my next post so keep an eye out for that. I'm off to spend my night reading Russel Brands autobiography, can you believe he once looked like this?! Madness!
xoxo

A little mash-up of my thoughts!

I really love your blog|!!!!
ReplyDeletecheck out my blog www.lalarapariga.blogspot.com
follow me if you want =)))
Apparently we have something in common .. the love for bows!! Really cute tights :) Hope you feel better soon x
ReplyDeleteim a plus sized / fat girl and i as well take inspiration from both big and small girls. i definitely understand feeling torn but i think you offer something relates to both types of girls based simply on the fact that you shop in stores most of us can afford and based on you being a lot more 'close to home' than any model we see in the media whether that model be big or small.im sort of rambling now but i guess im saying i would continue to relate and follow you whether you keep or drop your slogan. xx
ReplyDeleteThose tights are so freakin' adorable!!
ReplyDeleteI understand your blog dilemma. I think it's about time somebody redefined the term, fashion blog. I love your blog, plus-size or not. It's one of my favorite reads. :)
OMG!
ReplyDeleteAmazing tights!!! i loveeeed <33
The tights are immense. I hope you sort out your direction to what makes you happy, it's your blog remember. xxx
ReplyDeletewhen I first saw your blog I was really struck with you calling it a fatshion blog. I agree that what you do is different to usual fashion bloggers, and that it is important to have plus size bloggers (just any different shapes or sizes really) that are as popular and inflential as skinny bloggers. I'm not sure what I'm trying to say, haha. I guess that you have a fair amount of influence? and that is a great thing, just to have that visibility of someone who is not the same weight (or attempting to be) as models we see in magazines.
ReplyDeleteThose tights are super cute!
ReplyDeleteThose tights are precious. I wish Primark was online for us U.S. people. So many UK bloggers get such lovely things from there.
ReplyDeletesuper cute tights, i love the skirt too :)

I LOVE your tights! Wish I was still young enough to wear them (thirty-something mother of two probably counts as too old!) I too am on the low end of plus size but feel I can relate more to the "fatshion" blogs because they show me what different outfits might work for my body type where "thin" fashion blogs only make me feel like a fatty (in my head and my issues but still).
ReplyDeleteYour blog will be what it is even if you drop the slogan after the title so no worries either way you go. It is the content that counts : )
Someone is looking very sexy in the first picture! I love your tights but I seldom fit into tights so i'll be contented to look at yours :)
ReplyDeleteThose are so cute!I really hope you dont drop the "fatshion" slogan because it was exactly why i subscribed I thought wow here is a blog about fashion that a girl like me can try. I think its unique. whatever your decision may be i promise i'll still be a reader :)
ReplyDeletei'm in love with your tights! so cute
ReplyDeleteThose tights a too cute!
ReplyDeletehey dear ,
ReplyDeleteu have a nice room :)
i like those tights..get well soon, looking forward for more ootd's..(",)
ReplyDeleteI love your tights! :) super!
ReplyDeleteOhh I so neeeeed those tights in my life! Maybe just don't even have a slogan? I don't label my blog as a 'fashion' blog, its really just more me, my style, my life etc so I wouldnt let it worry you too much, just do what feels right :)

Bahahahaha, at the Russell Brand pick. On the subject of your slogan, I must say, after a month of following you I just noticed the slogan two days ago and was really surprised by it. I am plus size, and I do consider you plus size as well, though on the smaller end, I don't see this as a fatshion plus. I think you cover all aspects of fashion, big or small, and from the comments, it seems that you have a lot of followers beyond plus size. I'll be interested to see what you decide. Either way I adore your blog. Oooh, I adore your tights too, they tricked me for a minute, they definitely look like tattoos.
ReplyDeleteAmazing tights!!! i loveeeed
ReplyDeleteThose tights are gorgeous! xx
ReplyDeleteI j'adore the tights - I want bow tattoos too but just at the top of my calves, so I could show 'em off if I wanted ^_^
ReplyDeleteSuper cute tights!
ReplyDeleteI've read your blog for awhile but never commented (naughty me) But, why do you need to classify the kind of blog it is? Fashion is fashion after all whether or not it's fat or thin!
You're beautiful and fashionable, you don't need to worry about that :)
Firstly- the tights are so cute! Primark don't half come out with some good'uns atm :D
ReplyDeleteSecondly, I think you've really got to go with your instincts on the labelling issue...that is, if you really want to be labelled at all?! I'm a non-plus size blogger, but love reading your blog as you have great style, great writing technique, and a blog that's really well laid out. I would never not read, or feel excluded by ''fatshion blogs'' for any reasons different to why I wouldn't read another fashion blog. For me it's all about how you convey yourself, how you write, and personal style and i think you do wonderfully with all of these!

Hope your feeling better soon! Those tights are fab!

gorgeous tights!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those tights! And the idea of little bows tattooed, too :) your blog is awesome whatever it's called!
ReplyDeleteSarah x
I think Crystal Renn wants to scrap the whole plus-sized term and just refer to models as models. I think this is a similar situation, I wouldn't let your size or any label define you as a person as the things you like can be vast.
ReplyDeletedont get me wrong...I'm into boys... but your legs looks super sexy in these tights!! :)
ReplyDeleteThose tights are amazing! I love them, and it makes me want new tats.

Those tights are so cute!
ReplyDeleteLoooove your tights !

Completely agree with you on taking inspiration from everyone... no need to limit to any one set of people! Whatever your tag line is, I'll still be here :-) I love these pictures- your room is so colorful and I love the outfit with the painted walls and different patterned fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see you drop the "fatshion" title. Plus sized women should have fashion blogs! I do! I know many who do. I think separating yourself from everyone else is a bit silly - particularly when you're on the very low end of plus size. Fashion is fashion, whether you're a size 2 or 22 - love it!
ReplyDeleteLove those tights, what a bargain!
ReplyDeleteI used to be a huge Brand fan back in the day when he was on 6music he's all boring and settled down now, no tales of debauchery anymore!
Love your tights! Can't believe they're Primark! Lovely :D xxx
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping you feel better soon! Those tights are super amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love your style! I just discovered your blog recently but love all the outfits you wore in your most recent posts, and how you combine pretty and delicate with bold and bright, with a good measure of sparkly added in!
ReplyDeleteMy suggestion is... don't get caught up with labels and whether you're a "conventional" fashion or fatshion blogger... you don't have to be one or the other! I understand that wearing plus size only sometimes might make you feel like you have a foot in both camps, but that's a positive thing, I think both the fashion blogging and fatshion blogging communities benefit from your blog!
Anyway I don't believe fatshion is synonymous with plus-size fashion because as you said, it's all about mixing it up and wearing whatever works for your individual style! I think fatshion is just as important to fat girls who never wear plus-size clothing (like me), because it's important to recognise that fatness, just like beauty, comes in all shapes and sizes (sounds a bit paradoxical... because isn't fatness by definition about shape and size? I don't personally think so, but I don't want to turn this comment into an essay, lol!)
Anyway hope you get better from your virus soon! Looking forward to your updates :)
Love those tights! They're great with that pink skirt. So dainty and feminine. I squeeze so much into my blog description. I don't know if anyone reads it, but yours caught my eye. Russell Brand totally looks like the kid who played the tuba in the marching band or something.
ReplyDeleteJen Hemming and Hawing Again
Your tights rock!!
ReplyDeletewww.adventuresofagirlfromthenaki.blogspot.com
First those tights are A-Maze-Zing!!
ReplyDeleteSecond... don't think you have to define your blog within perimeters that others use... you are different than most "fatshion" blogs and most "fashion" blogs... you are unique... so just continue being you... remove the labels. I am a plus sized blogger. I also draw inspiration from everywhere... thin, plus, the world... just contine being true to you... the right name will come to you :)
ohh geee! Those tights are adorable! ^_^
ReplyDeleteThose tights are great!
ReplyDeleteI'm still a fan of your blog and still support your work. I don't use "fatshion," so I can't really comment on that front. You are still a very beautiful Irish girl, and "Pearls, Lace, and Ruffles" is still a fantastic blog. Just keep up the great work.
ReplyDeletejohnbmarine.blogspot.com
Amazing! Your number's really gorgeous on you... and those tights are drool-worthy.
ReplyDeleteYou look real hot here! :) More, more!
The tights are cute. Hope you feel well soon.
ReplyDeleteAs for your change of name: I understand your point. Maybe you could include both plus size and regular size? Hmmmm, writing it down doesn't seem such a great idea anyway. I think you'll come up with a name that will appeal both to you and your readers.
I can totally understand where you're coming from being a girl on the smaller end of plus size myself, when you can shop in both types of shop why pigeon hole yourself to one genre? Although saying that, I don't feel that you naming your blog a 'fatshion' blog takes away anything from you at all, you are still a very cool girl with interesting views. I also think that if you want to just name your blog a fashion blog then you can because plus size or not, you're still writing a blog about fashion :)
ReplyDeleteI love your tights! I feel similarly about my own blog in regards to being inspired by women of all sizes and shopping in both plus sized and straight size shops etc.
ReplyDeleteI don't see any reason why you shouldn't drop the 'fatshion' tag and just blog about whatever you like - plus size, haute couture, high street - if that's what works for you. The joy of having a blog is having the ability to choose what you write about...and any readers who don't support that idea will quickly be replaced by readers who do! I agree with what's been said above, that we need fashion bloggers of all shapes and sizes, and it's not necessary for them to pigeonhole themselves into any specific niche if they don't want to.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tights. I really would like a pair of them.
ReplyDeleteCheck out my blog : www.jonamaria.blogspot.com
I have just found your blog, and it makes me feel nice. Your tights are amazing, and so are you! You might possibly like some of the clothes I post on my blog?

ReplyDeletewoah, alex. that's not very nice. if you can't tell from the lack of obnoxious ads all over the page, she probably has other things to do. like, you know.. work a job. be a friend. a good family member. you know. all that pesky junk. :]
ReplyDeletethe fact that (i'm 99% sure) this blog doesn't provide a significant, if any, form of income, makes this blog a HOBBY. a hobby is something we do to enjoy ourselves. i think she updates pretty regularly. most the fatshion bloggers don't update every. single. day. i know i don't dress to the nines every day, and i'm pretty adamant!
anywho, you could always start your own blog, on which you can enforce your OWN standards and expectations.. and then follow your own self.
have a nice day! :]
LOL Aly. That's funny and very true. Start a blow and follow yourself and never be disappointed.
ReplyDeleteLove love love the tights!! I want~
ReplyDeleteWhat cute tights! <3
