Hey lovelies! So its my 21st birthday on June 14 (Tuesday) and i'm going away on holiday/vacation tomorrow for a little over one week. I just wanted to let everyone know as I won't be updating during that time (although i'm sure i'll be dropping a couple of tweets over on twitter!) I have a few of things planned around the time I get back too so it will probably be about two weeks when I next update here. I'm sure i'll have lots of photographs to share when I get back. Talk to all of you soon!

I apologize that I haven't been a great blogger this week! Life has been kind of hectic and I have been thinking about updating but time worked against me most days. I also had a bug for a couple of days so I was wearing pj's and knitted sweater socks mostly...stylish, I know! Finally feeling better today.

There was a slight wardrobe malfunction when I took these picures, my dress was caught up in the belt hence it being shorter on one side, so dorky. Thankfully I noticed before leaving my bedroom. I don't love this dress but i'm trying to wear everything I own at least once because I went through a period of buying clothes and not wearing them a while back. Today I wanted to wear something longer that would cover my thighs and this is one of my few dresses that do! The material on the bottom half of the dress is quite odd so I had to wear my ASOS bicycle shorts underneath. I don't really know why I bought this dress if i'm honest! The shoulders are too big and its squishy on my waist - I honestly think I just wanted the belt!

The title of my post is from Britney Spears new song "I Wanna Go", the chorus of that song is especially catchy! I think I mentioned it on here before but I am a big Britney fan. Her European concert tickets went on sale today but unfortunately I couldn't afford them as I spent my extra money on clothes...typical! I am hoping there will be some left at the end of the month or maybe i'll get lucky on eBay. I missed out on her concert last time she played here too. Someday I will get lucky!

I can't believe its the weekend again already! Hope you all have a great one!

Crest whitening strips review

June 7, 2011

Hey loves, I wanted to do an outfit post today but it seems I caught a bug and haven't been feeling too well. I ended up spending the day in my "lazy" clothes aka. leggings! I wear leggings a lot especially during the winter but never post outfits with them because I don't actually like how they look. Its definitely a comfort thing for me. I took some pictures recently because I wanted to post a little review on Crest whitening strips. I mentioned I had been using them on twitter and lots of ladies on there asked me to do a review so why not!
I always check for reviews online before buying certain products and teeth whitening products are especially tricky as lots don't work - well, they haven't for me personally. I have tried pearl drops and a lot of "whitening" toothpastes/other products, none of which worked. The Crest strips definitely made a noticeable difference though.

I don't have before pictures which i'm sorry about, like the 30 day shred I didn't take good before pictures because I didn't expect such a big change. Before using the strips my teeth were slightly discolored, they weren't especially bad but they were closer to a shade of yellow than a bright white. One of my teeth in particular (I believe its called the "canine") on the upper left side was much more discolored than the others for some reason. As someone who likes to smile a lot, I was really self conscious about it and decided to try out the Crest strips as the reviews online seemed mostly positive.

I chose the "Crest 3d whitening strips with advanced seal, professional effects" as they had the best reviews. They are a little more expensive than the other strips (there is so many different strips to choose from, it really confused me!) but they are worth every cent. The professional effects strips are the strongest tooth whitening products available without going to the dentist.
The strips aren't available in stores here in Europe so I ordered my strips through Amazon.com and had them shipped to my address in the USA because they don't ship them internationally. If you live outside the USA you can probably get them on eBay, i'm not too sure though. Inside the box was 20 little packets, each contained one strip for your upper teeth and a shorter strip for your lower teeth. There was also an instruction booklet which came with lots of coupons for future Crest purchases, one of the coupons was $7 off a box of the strips!

The instructions were very easy to understand and I had no trouble applying them. You peel the strip from the clear plastic, press the gel side against your teeth and tuck the extra part under your teeth. Crest say you can use the strips twice a day if you want, but I only used them once a day because I have sensitive teeth. Around day 4 I began to notice a big difference, especially on that one tooth that was extra discolored. On day 10 I began to notice sensitivity but kept using the strips for a few more days which I regretted. Clearly printed on the instructions is a note about how tooth sensitivity is common and you should take a break of 2-3 days if you experience it, I should have listened! After a couple of days of tooth pain I decided to take a break for a week before finishing the pack, when I did resume using the strips I only did so every second day.

The end result was much so better than I expected. I knew they would make a difference but I didn't think it would be as great as it is. My teeth are all the same color for the most part and I am no longer wondering if people are staring at my oddball-tooth with I smile! I love that my teeth are a nice natural shade of white, rather than the OTT fake white "Hollywood smile". I have already ordered a second box to use when I notice my teeth beginning to change color again. I really can't recommend these strips highly enough. I paid about $50 (€40-ish) for the box of strips, which isn't cheap but the dentist wanted €250 to whiten my teeth and I got the same result from these strips. I love to save money wherever possible so i'll share one tip that I found out a few days ago - if you are buying the strips from Amazon log in to your account and go to this link which is their coupon page. You may have to refresh a few times but eventually a coupon for either $10 or $7.50 off the whitening strips will show up.

I think this picture describes my overall opinion on the Crest strips:

PS. If any of you gals in the USA plan to buy these strips at the grocery store and would like my coupons, just let me know and I can mail them to you since I can't use them online. (first person to ask can have them!)

Note: I wasn't paid or asked to review these strips by any company. I bought the strips myself and this is a completely non-biased review.

Weekly Wishlist

weekly wishlist

one: Cream Lace Flower Tee, £34 two: White Feather Hair Clip, £12 three: Mustard Crinkle Gingham Bralet, £12 four: Sunshine Broderie Anglaise Trim Shorts, £34 five: Francine Mustard Tubular Suede Sandals, £36

Oh Topshop, how I love thee! What I love even more than Topshop is all of the lovely yellow/mustard tones in their store at the minute. I never thought I would say that as i'm really not a yellow person, its one of my least favorite colors infact. BUT! - Ever since I bought that yellow blouse with the peter pan collar, I have been hooked. This wishlist is more of an "outfit" wishlist - I would love to wear all of these together. I know its a little bit matchy-matchy but thats just me, if things don't match (on myself) it bothers me a lot. I can just imagine that cute gingham bra peeking out through the lace tshirt. Loving the whimsical feather hairpiece too, i'm obsessed with dream catchers and it really reminds me of them! I'm not sure if i'll be buying any of these items but I really want to at least try on those pretty lace trimmed shorts in store. I have a feeling they will be coming home with me if I can squeeze my behind into their largest size!

30 Day Shred Review

June 2, 2011

OOTD / 2 June 2011
OOTD / 2 June 2011

Top: Forever 21 *** Running shorts: Topshop

A slightly different kind of outfit post! Not the greatest pictures as I had just got back from my run and rushed them so I could have a nice cold shower! This is my current "work out" outfit. I rarely wear graphic print tops but when I seen this in Forever 21 I couldn't pass it up. Its from their regular line and a size Large but very stretchy hence my being able to wear it! Clueless is one of my favorite movies. I loved the tv show too and rewatched the episode with N*Sync recently. I am pretty sure Justin Timberlakes part in that clip was the beginning of my obsession with him!

Before I begin talking about the shred, I must say that I wasn't paid or asked to review this DVD by anyone. I decided to do it myself and picked this particular DVD based on reviews I had read online in the past. I also didn't do this workout with a goal to lose weight, my only goal was to tone up my body more and get fitter! I didn't change my diet at all, i'm a vegetarian but I eat a lot of carbs - pasta and bread are my weakness. I also had takeout one night. I didn't do any kind of dieting - no restricting or calorie counting - nothing.

The "30 Day Shred" is a thirty day workout program (by Jillian Michaels of The Biggest Loser) designed to tone up your entire body and "shred" inches. I used to run every day but during the winter I got a little bit lazy and decided not to work out at all. I knew from watching The Biggest Loser that Jillian is a no-frills kind of gal - shes hardcore and you'll probably hate her by the midpoint of the thirty days, but she gets results. The DVD contains three levels and its recommended to do each level for 10 days before moving to the next. Each level is less than thirty minutes including some warm up and cool down moves. Each level has three circuits which contain three minutes of strength, two minutes cardio and one minute abs. You can view a full break down of all the circuits here. You don't need much equipment which was a huge plus for me - just some space, an exercise mat and hand weights (I used 3lb weights) Jillian has her "two best girls" in the background doing the moves also. Natalie, who goes all out with advanced moves and Anita who does modified versions for people who may not be as flexible.

Day one was hard but I made it through, my body hurt the next day but not enough to make me stop. Day two was the real killer though - I had to really push myself to make it to the end of the workout and for the rest of that day every single muscle in my body was hurting. By day four I was able to do the whole workout without a break and my body wasn't aching any more. On day eight I got bored of level one so I switched it up to level two. I have to be honest.. I really hated level two. I wanted to yell at Jillian on the tv every day. As a whole, level two wasn't that awful, but the lunges are what made me hate it. I could do them, but I really had to push myself and I didn't enjoy them at all. I switched to level three around day 15 or 16 and did that for the remaining days. My favorite parts of the shred were the walk out pushup's on level two, situps in level three and shadowboxing with dumbbells in a half squat on level three. My least favorites were the lunges in every level.
Overall, the exercises weren't as hard as I expected. They were hard for the first couple of days but once your body gets used to it and you push yourself, it gets easier. I had problems with certain moves at first, the "superman" in level three was very hard for me but I pushed myself and now I can do them without feeling like i'm going to die!

I didn't take my measurements at the beginning of the DVD which is a shame. It was day 10 when I finally weighed and measured myself so my full results are probably even better than the ones I have from day 10-30. I am beyond happy with what I "shredded" in those twenty days though. I didn't include before and after pictures because my "before" pictures were really bad iphone pictures, sorry. I didn't take "proper" photographs because I didn't expect such a huge result. If you look at this outfit post and this one you can see a little bit of a difference with how the belt fits me.

From day 10-30 of the shred - I lost a total of 15lbs. I lost a lot of inches too and I feel so much stronger and fitter than I did before. I'll include a breakdown of the inches I lost below incase anyone is interested!

Inches lost:
Upper arms: one inch
Calves: - half inch
Thighs: one and a half inches
Under bust: two inches
Natural waist: two and a half inches
Belly: three inches
Lower waist: one and a half inches

I also ran most days after the shred, just because I didn't feel like my legs were getting *enough* of a workout compared to my abs but I really think the shred was the main source of inch loss for me. I'm going to continue working out but probably get a DVD that focuses on targeting certain areas because my upper arms are mostly what I would like to tone up! I would highly recommend the 30 Day Shred to everyone who would like to tone up their body with a workout that is quick and won't break the bank (the dvd retails at roughly $10)

OOTD: I now own a pair of jeans!

Top: New Look *** Jeans: American Eagle *** Flats: Dunnes *** Bracelet: Primark

Blogger went down when I made my last post but thankfully seems to be restored now. This title is stolen from a post I made last year called "I now own a pair of pants". Truthfully, I didn't wear the pants a second time and I probably won't wear these jeans a second time but its still fun to switch things up a little now and then! Back in my youth (gosh, I sound like an old lady!) I loved to wear skinny jeans. I followed the whole "emo" and "scene" trends so I had about twenty pairs of black skinny jeans which all looked identical. I think wearing jeans every day for so long caused me to dislike them now.
A couple of months ago I had a gift card for American Eagle and I was struggling to find something to spend my last couple of dollars on when I spotted these babies on sale. They were $49.95 originally but they were marked down and AE had an additional promotion with 30% extra off all clearance items, so they were only about $15 in the end. I'm not a jeans-and-teeshirt kind of gal, and probably never will be. Even though I paired the jeans with flats, I think my top dressed the outfit up a little! I read reviews about AE jeans fitting small so I sized up by two sizes just to be safe. My jeans are a size US 16 which is a UK 20! I am definitely not a size 20 so just a heads up to anyone thinking about ordering from them. The top is a purchase from New Look a couple of months ago and they currently have them back in stock in various colors. It sits slightly awkwardly on my belly but the little ruffles along the neckline are too cute!

This week has been much better than last, today being the first day of June has helped too. June is one of my favorite months of the year, I just love how perfect and calm everything feels before the big summertime rush. I'm considering going to the city for a night or two next week to meet with some old friends and probably pamper myself a little bit too! I shouldn't be spending money right now as I am trying to save but I think its just what I need.

Hope everyone is having a great week so far! Thanks for all of the sweet comments on my last couple of entries. They mean a lot to me! Slightly off topic but did any of you girls see the older lady playing the keyboard on Britains Got Talent? She is all kinds of adorable! I don't follow the show but I seen a short clip and she definitely stole my heart.

PS. I finished the 30 day shred a couple of days ago so i'll be posting a full review of it soon! I am very happy with the results overall, the only place I didn't see a huge change was my upper arms (the part I wanted to "target" most, grrr!) but it was still worth it.

xoxo
