Sometimes I will see an item in store, fall in love and purchase it. But as soon as I get home and try on the garment, I think "well its not that nice..". I think this mostly happens in Primark, where I very rarely actually fit things on because of the super long queues! The dress in the above pictures was purchased from there shortly after Christmas and still hangs in my closet with tags on. I do love the soft chiffon-like fabric, and although the print is not something I would usually go for, I love the contrast of the red against the winter white. That said, I think the shape does nothing for my figure and I almost feel like I am wearing a nightie! I am not 100% sure if I want to keep it, but then I think about returning it and say to myself "well, maybe i'll wear it someday". This is where your help is needed - keep or return?
I was in Primark a couple of days ago and noticed these dresses actually come with a tie waist belt (in the same print/fabric as the dress), which mine did not. So if I do decide to keep it i'll probably pop back in and mention it to them!
xoxo

Keep or return?

It's a little bit shapeless...do you have a brown belt to put around it or something? :-s I love the pattern though!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I would wear it with a belt if I do keep it. I'm just not sure if thats enough to make it keep-worthy! I don't think a belt will make a great difference as I don't have a very defined waist. xo
DeleteCould you try it with a brown belt or something? It's a little bit shapeless but a belt should sor that? Love the pattern.
ReplyDeleteKeep, ik looks lovely on you!
ReplyDeleteMaaike
Keep! It looks lovely on you!
ReplyDeleteMaaike
I like it on you - it will look lovely in the summer. I say KEEP! xXx
ReplyDeleteI'd keep it and get your belt too!
ReplyDeleteIt's so cute, would be great for spring and summer!

Aww I think it's absolutely gorgeous hun! Definitely keep - it looks fab. I always like to nip my dresses in at the waist though so go get the tie belt and it will look perfect. <3 xoxo
ReplyDeleteDefinitely keep it, the colour and print is gorgeous. Can't wait to see it appear on here again! xx
ReplyDeleteElla @ Belle Vintage
Keep it, the print is beautiful! Just wear a gorgeous belt the same colour as the birds or a tan colour to define the shape - I find I often have to do this with my Primark dresses. With some gold accessories, a little cardi, tanned legs and sparkly sandals/wedges I can see this looking simply gorgeous in the summer! :-)

Keep!!! It's gorgeous and looks stunning on you. X
ReplyDeleteI think the print is so pretty, I wish I'd seen this in Primark I love it! You could always try wearing a thin waist belt around it to see if that helps to change the shape of it if you wanted? Or try and get the one from store which it should have come with! I think it looks lovely on you anyway :) xx
ReplyDeleteThey should still be in most Primarks! I got mine around Xmas time but theres a huge rail of them still in my local store and the big store in the city still has some too! xo
DeleteKeep it! A million times keep! XO
ReplyDeleteI Dee! I'm portuguese and I found your blog a little while, but I love it! you are my inspiration :) thank you
ReplyDeleteaw thank you Marta. xo
DeleteIt does look a little like a nightie. If you don't love it you probably won't wear it..
ReplyDeleteDefinitely keep, it's lovely.
ReplyDeletei love the print! i'll have to go into my primark and see if they have this, i would keep it if i were you :) you can always wear it with a belt and save it for the winter under a thick cardigan if you're unsure :)
ReplyDeletehttp://vckyv.blogspot.com
Keep it :)
ReplyDeleteI'd keep it for sure, Primark dresses are usually very shapeless but once you accessorize it with a belt and maybe some outerwear it'll look great. I adore the print!
ReplyDeletekeep it! It's simple and cute.
ReplyDeleteI think it's beautiful and really suits you! but if you are swithering just take it back and get soemthing you know you will wear :) x
ReplyDeleteI love the print! it also looks good on you, so keep it :D
ReplyDeleteKeep it, it would look beautiful with a golden belt.
ReplyDeleteOh i love this print, it will be great for spring, if it ever warms up! X

I love this dress ! If you don't want it I'll buy it off you :)

If you're having doubts just return it!
ReplyDeleteEverything you have said makes me think you should return it, go and replace it by something that you can try on and looks better, or go elsewhere.
It's cute but does look rather nightie-like :(
xx

I'd say keep, it's a lovely print, and it'll be very flattering with a skinny brown belt and some pretty pastel heels! You'll rock it! :)
ReplyDeletehttp://juffielovesstyles.blogspot.com/
I say keep it. I've done the same thing a few times but I usually find a way to make it work. Even if it just becomes my "stylishly laying around the apartment" dress or outfit.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a really nice, cute dress that juts needs a little extra styling to help it sing (and it shows off your fab legs). I say keep it, and spend an evening trying out different looks with it.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, I love the bottom hald but the top half swamps you a little, a belt would definately help, it's a shame it's not sleeveless. The print is gorgeous so I'm sure you can work it if you love it, or alter it if you have the skillz! ;)

I love bird print! You should keep it, it looks really cute on you xx

keep- it's lovely! :)
ReplyDeleteKeep!
ReplyDeleteThe print is lovely and I think its very you :) xx
It's really pretty, but I always go with 'if you don't love it, you'll probably never wear it'. Of course there's always some exceptions, but if I don't use that I end up with tons of clothes that I only wear once x
ReplyDeleteyou should put another belt to it, something to emphasize the waist, because one of the same fabric wouldn't quite do the trick. If you love the fabric and the print (which I certainly do <3), you should keep it and make it awesome, like you do with all the things you wear:)

Adorable! With a brown belt and a cute cardigan, I think it'd be perfect for Spring and Summer! And even in winter paired with stockings. Definitely keep. ;)
ReplyDeleteIm not so sure about it. I love the pattern and colour, but i think you need to wear a belt with it to make it cinch you in the right place and give you waist.
ReplyDeleteI hope thats ok!
It's a keeper!! You'll regret it if you take it back- think of it in the summer all tanned :) x http://nicsnutrition.com
ReplyDeleteDefinitely keep it! Think of it in the summer all tanned :) x http://nicsnutrition.com
ReplyDeleteI think its a keeper. I personally love the print too xx
ReplyDeleteI'd say keep it cuz summer is coming up & it'd be adorable with a belt & a cute hair accessory! :)
ReplyDeletehttp://swtiine.blogspot.com/
I'd say keep! It's such a pretty print and will be great for summer :) x
ReplyDeleteI say return it. If you're not in love with it and you haven't worn it by now then you most likely won't.
ReplyDeleteI say return it. If you don't love it and you haven't worn it by now then you probably wont.
ReplyDeletei think it's adorable, will be perfect for summer ! x
ReplyDeleteplease keep it, it looks lovely and it really suits you :D
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Dreams
Keep! x
ReplyDeleteCan't believe this is from Primark, looks more Dorothy Perkins or Topshop! It's so crisp and clean, deffo keep!
ReplyDeletePlease check out my blog here<3
I think it's gorgeous, I love the print and it would be the perfect summer dress! I know what you mean though, sometimes I really love an item of clothing but I don't love it on me so it just sits at the back of the wardrobe because I'm convinced I will wear it at some point but I never do!

KEEP! It looks beautiful on you, I'm going to pop in and see if I can pick one up :)
ReplyDeleteI think the pattern looks cute up-close, but from afar it kind of looks like a hospital gown. I would say return. It is pretty though, just kind of confusing. :P
ReplyDelete-Lindsey
I think it's cute when you're close to it, but from afar it looks a bit like a hospital gown...
ReplyDeleteCute, but potentially confusing. :P
-Lindsey
I find myself in this situation a lot...1 word can help me get through it
ReplyDeleteKEEP!!!!!!!!!!
I actually really like this but I know personally that when I buy stuff and leave it in my wardrobe it usually means I don't LOVE it, because when I really love something I've bought I get excited to wear it and have it on within a few days... If you don't feel comfortable in it then there's probably no point in keeping it bu maybe the waist tie would make all the difference?

It's a bit shapeless, I would return it, over all the pattern is gorgeous! xx

The pattern is so pretty! If you're having doubts, though, you should return. Most of the time I decide to keep something I'm unsure about, I regret it later when I'm trying to resell it. If I don't feel awesome in an outfit (unless it's a "safe" outfit), I just don't wear it.
ReplyDeleteKeep it, most definitely! That's a gorgeous print and it's so appropriate for Spring x
ReplyDeleteI think it is gorgeous and would look lovely with a nice brown belt x
ReplyDeletelove this one
ReplyDeletelook so nice
This looks lovely on you and really suits your figure - I too would suggest a nice brown belt :-)

ReplyDeleteI think Return...usually when I have even the slightest doubt I take it back, because my mind didnt fall in love with the piece.
ReplyDeleteKeep! I might have to pop into my Primark tomorrow and see if they have it as I love it so much! xx
ReplyDeleteKeep! :) It's so pretty and looks lovely on you xx
ReplyDeleteI love these kinda posts haha have been thinking of doing one too. I realllly like the dress, super pretty priny but when in doubt return! xx
ReplyDeleteYup keep it, all you need is a belt and you're all sorted. Love the print, too gorgeous too return! x
ReplyDeleteI love the print. I think it looks nice on you but it would definitely look better with the waist belt if you could get your hands on it or any little thin belt. It would break it up a bit and make you feel less like you're wearing a nightie. As for the shape, I think it looks flattering actually! The fabric looks so lovely and floaty. If you dont feel comfortable in it then return it, there is nothing worse than wearing something you dont feel comfortable in but I think it look really nice on you :) x
ReplyDeletekeep it!
ReplyDeleteIt`s so cute:)
I agree with others! All you need is a belt and some fitting accessories ;) love our posts
