Keep or return?

keep or return keep or return keep or return keep or return
Sometimes I will see an item in store, fall in love and purchase it. But as soon as I get home and try on the garment, I think "well its not that nice..". I think this mostly happens in Primark, where I very rarely actually fit things on because of the super long queues! The dress in the above pictures was purchased from there shortly after Christmas and still hangs in my closet with tags on. I do love the soft chiffon-like fabric, and although the print is not something I would usually go for, I love the contrast of the red against the winter white. That said, I think the shape does nothing for my figure and I almost feel like I am wearing a nightie! I am not 100% sure if I want to keep it, but then I think about returning it and say to myself "well, maybe i'll wear it someday". This is where your help is needed - keep or return?

I was in Primark a couple of days ago and noticed these dresses actually come with a tie waist belt (in the same print/fabric as the dress), which mine did not. So if I do decide to keep it i'll probably pop back in and mention it to them!

    1. Oh yes, I would wear it with a belt if I do keep it. I'm just not sure if thats enough to make it keep-worthy! I don't think a belt will make a great difference as I don't have a very defined waist. xo

  9. Keep it, the print is beautiful! Just wear a gorgeous belt the same colour as the birds or a tan colour to define the shape - I find I often have to do this with my Primark dresses. With some gold accessories, a little cardi, tanned legs and sparkly sandals/wedges I can see this looking simply gorgeous in the summer! :-)

  20. I think the print is so pretty, I wish I'd seen this in Primark I love it! You could always try wearing a thin waist belt around it to see if that helps to change the shape of it if you wanted? Or try and get the one from store which it should have come with! I think it looks lovely on you anyway :) xx

    1. They should still be in most Primarks! I got mine around Xmas time but theres a huge rail of them still in my local store and the big store in the city still has some too! xo

  25. i love the print! i'll have to go into my primark and see if they have this, i would keep it if i were you :) you can always wear it with a belt and save it for the winter under a thick cardigan if you're unsure :)

  27. I'd keep it for sure, Primark dresses are usually very shapeless but once you accessorize it with a belt and maybe some outerwear it'll look great. I adore the print!

  34. If you're having doubts just return it!

    Everything you have said makes me think you should return it, go and replace it by something that you can try on and looks better, or go elsewhere.

    It's cute but does look rather nightie-like :(

  37. I think it's a really nice, cute dress that juts needs a little extra styling to help it sing (and it shows off your fab legs). I say keep it, and spend an evening trying out different looks with it.

  38. It's funny, I love the bottom hald but the top half swamps you a little, a belt would definately help, it's a shame it's not sleeveless. The print is gorgeous so I'm sure you can work it if you love it, or alter it if you have the skillz! ;)

  45. It's really pretty, but I always go with 'if you don't love it, you'll probably never wear it'. Of course there's always some exceptions, but if I don't use that I end up with tons of clothes that I only wear once x

  46. you should put another belt to it, something to emphasize the waist,because one of the same fabric wouldn't quite do the trick. If you love the fabric and the print (which I certainly do <3), you should keep it and make it awesome, like you do with all the things you wear:)

  48. Im not so sure about it. I love the pattern and colour, but i think you need to wear a belt with it to make it cinch you in the right place and give you waist.

  60. I think it's gorgeous, I love the print and it would be the perfect summer dress! I know what you mean though, sometimes I really love an item of clothing but I don't love it on me so it just sits at the back of the wardrobe because I'm convinced I will wear it at some point but I never do!

I actually really like this but I know personally that when I buy stuff and leave it in my wardrobe it usually means I don't LOVE it, because when I really love something I've bought I get excited to wear it and have it on within a few days... If you don't feel comfortable in it then there's probably no point in keeping it bu maybe the waist tie would make all the difference?

  71. The pattern is so pretty! If you're having doubts, though, you should return. Most of the time I decide to keep something I'm unsure about, I regret it later when I'm trying to resell it. If I don't feel awesome in an outfit (unless it's a "safe" outfit), I just don't wear it.

  82. I love the print. I think it looks nice on you but it would definitely look better with the waist belt if you could get your hands on it or any little thin belt. It would break it up a bit and make you feel less like you're wearing a nightie. As for the shape, I think it looks flattering actually! The fabric looks so lovely and floaty. If you dont feel comfortable in it then return it, there is nothing worse than wearing something you dont feel comfortable in but I think it look really nice on you :) x
